The USDA (United States Department Of Agriculture) And The Animal Welfare Act More and more people pull things off the freedom of information act and twist it and turn it to work in their benefit. Animal rights people is the main users of this tactic. The USDA is in charge of the animal welfare act on a federal level. They have inspectors for regions around the United States. Even though the USDA has one written regulatory book each inspector is open to interpret that book any way they want. Most every large AZA accredited zoo and every airline in the united states has paid a fine by the USDA. Does this make them a bad zoo or person. No, by no means. The USDA is no different than a police officer that pulls you over and gives you a ticket, it is a pay check and that is how they are funded. Does that make you a bad person. By no means. Being in a book of rules, such as; 001.02 sec 4 (b) sanitary conditions- all surfaces are to be made of a substance to prevent bacteria from being able to house and live within the surface. And if you had a USDA license and your inspector wrote you up for a dirty table, it goes on record that you have been in violation of (sanitary conditions) and the animal rights people use those two word to exploit you and your business. No where do they tell you that is was a dirty table. They make you think in your mind that it was filthy nasty cages your animals were made to live in. And the sad part is most people buy into this. If you were a violator of the USDA animal welfare act of abusing animals. You wouldn't just get written up, or pay a fine, you would be in JAIL, as in every state animal abuse is a felony. Paying a fine to the USDA is a civil penalty, it's not even a criminal fine. Because it is all administrative violations not animal cruelty. I Joe Schreibvogel aka Joe Exotic Paid a fine from the early years of 1997 and 2001 but just got settled in court in 2006. The animal rights people would love you to believe that this all occurred in 2006, but it did not. When we just started the zoo in 1997. The USDA hands you a book, a license and lets you have your business. What they don't do is explain to you what your inspector is going to expect. And NO TWO INSPECTORS EXPECT THE SAME. So you get written up, but not every write up is a fine. They let them pile up until they can make the fine worth while. I had some build up like. My Vet did not fill out paper work right. I had a underground shelter built for some animals that my inspector did not think was sturdy, but was built by a licensed engineer. Having a baby deer around the public at my park without an employee present during public contact. Which is where I blew my top and through my inspector off my property. That was not the thing to do. That is when I got fined. And you can not win because their lawyers and judges work out of the same office so you pay it and moved on. Why did I through my inspector off? Because the zoo to the north about 30 miles and the wildlife park to the south about 6 miles, in no way has to do the same thing for their animals as I do. You want to talk about trash and poor excuse for caring for animals. We have 11 of the animals from the wildlife park but they have filed bankruptcy many times to get out of their fines. This is what made me so upset. Lets all live by the same rules and take care of animals. Since I paid my fine we have had 5 years totaling 18 inspections to be perfect and in order, now that we know what our inspector wants and demands. Inspectors all over inspect our show while at your mall. They have made comments that we provide the most clean and professional show they have ever inspected. If you get any phone calls, letters, etc from anyone it will be PeTA They are the kings of killing animals. I have to ask myself why do people fall into their line of BS. Their reports came out for 2008, raising 32million dollars for animal and the care of animals but THEY KILLED ALL BUT 7 yes I said 7 you are reading this right they killed 97% of animals took in. And people support this? If you are a mall, business, or just a human you have to ask yourself, what could you do with 32 million dollars. Well they are not giving it to you or paying your bills or keeping you out of bankruptcy court and they sure are not going to give it to my animals, so why let them dictate to you what to do in your business. My show which is free to you and the public will bring in tens of thousands of people to your mall. Now ask your self if it was for a buck why do this for free? Because it's not about the buck, it's about educating people about exotic animal ownership, drinking and driving, and saying no to drugs all wrapped up in one. At the same time helping real animals that will get to live and not die to a deadly needle. PeTA has us on their website, they will send you letters, papers, faxes, etc saying all the bad things they have made up and twisted around. EXPECT IT. But the great thing is we have the proof their lying, twisting things around. Their undercover investigator was formally written up for not following protocols and a failing drug test. So it's not our fault their spy's couldn't do the job we trained him to do. My life is an open book. Your welcome to see anything and inspect anything, I can promise you we will put on a first class show. With healthy animals and first class care for our animals. If you choose to fall to the world of threats, lies and video tapes from people that really don't care how you sleep at night or pay your bills.
